On a spring morning near the end of May, with the assistance of medical staff, Gordon said “I am ready”. With his loving wife Mary Anne and his children, Kevin and Krista, by his side, he told his family they would meet again… After an 11-month battle with Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma Asbestos Lung Cancer, Gord chose to leave this world on his terms, free of pain, limitations, and medications. Gordon is survived by Mary Anne, wonderful wife of 53 years. Loving father of Kevin (Tracey) Hill and Krista (Devin) Mitts. Loving Papa to Ashley Hill-Stone, Darius Hill, Danielle, Jordan, and Kelsey Mitts. Great grandpa to Owen and Willow. Dear brother to Bruce (Eva), Keith (Robin) and brother-in-law to Jackie (Les) Vegvari and Anne (Ray) Scott along with many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to all the doctors and nurses at both Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus, Grand River Regional Cancer Centre in Cambridge and the Wall-Custance Funeral Home. A special thank you to Dr. Chris Lund, Heather Martin, Bonita Scott and all the nurses of Bayshore. Cremation has already taken place. There will be a small ceremony for family when Covid restrictions have been lifted. Arrangements entrusted to the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel. Memorial donations to the Guelph Humane Society or a charity of your choice. Gord’s best friend Raven, who was rescued two years ago along with all the other pets that Gord has saved, cared for and loved over the years will appreciate it.
