Heidbuurt, Helen; It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Heidbuurt, formerly of Elora, at Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her husband Abe in 2001 and her grandson Tim Heidbuurt in 1998. The last surviving member of her family, she was predeceased by her parents Hendrik and Janna Berends and her 12 brothers and sisters in Holland. Dear mother of Jerry Heidbuurt and Dianne Koehler of Bayfield, Jane and Charlie Loughran of Kitchener, Arnie Heidbuurt of Shelburne and Henry and Catherine Heidbuurt of Neustadt. Loving grandmother of Steven Heidbuurt, Charlene and Gary Guth, Cheryl and Tom Hintermayer, Paul and Lindy Loughran all of Kitchener, Marty and Michelle Jackson of Cambridge, Tonya Peter of Orangeville, Angelina Heidbuurt and Justin Heidbuurt, both of Toronto. She was the proud great grandmother of 14. Visitation was at the Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 37 Church St, Elora on Tuesday, May 18 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Funeral service was held at the Canadian Reformed Church of Elora, 6674 Wellington Rd #7, on Wednesday, May 19 at 2pm. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Stickney and the caring staff at the Highland Manor Retirement Lodge in Fergus where Helen resided for the past 14 months. Also heartfelt thanks to the wonderful second floor nurses at Groves Memorial Hospital for their kind and compassionate care at the end of her life.
