It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a remarkably kind and wonderful man, Frank Earl Hayes, in his 91st year, following a short illness. He left us peacefully in his home, surrounded by the love he gave so freely throughout his life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Deanna (nee Tesarski), with whom he shared 64 years of unwavering love and companionship, and by his dear sister, Sandra Hayes. Frank is also survived by his children, Holly Graham (Paul) and Heather Hayes (Mike Shaw), and predeceased by his precious son Bradley in 1997. He was a loving grandfather to grandchildren, Melissa, Amanda, Rebecca, Alexandra, Christina, Joey, Leah, Allie, and Jenn as well as a great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the time they had with their Papa. Born in Winnipeg, Frank’s journey with Deanna led them to Ontario with their young family in 1968. They found their long-time home in Bolton, where they created 40+ years of memories. In the final chapter of his life, Frank enjoyed the tranquility of Fergus, spending his days playing golf with friends, hanging out at the local seniors centre, and enjoying the outdoors. Some of our fondest memories of Frank include him tending to his gardens (typically with his shirt off), always ready to strike up a conversation with a smile. Frank brought endless happiness to his wife, children, and grandchildren, providing them with lasting memories of swimming, tobogganing, and ice skating from their earliest years. He led prayers and carols at Christmas, sharing his joy for life and his love for God with those around him. His legacy is one of joy and warmth and his memory is a blessing that will continue to inspire us all. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life was held on October 23rd, 2023 at 12:00pm, at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 280 St. David Street South in Fergus. The family received guests immediately following for a time of reception. A private family burial will take place in the Spring of 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s memory can be directed to Habitat for Humanity.
