Peacefully, surrounded by the love of family, on March 5 2023, Aileen Hawkins of Fergus, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend, in her 83rd year, took the hand of the Lord and went to her final resting place. Lovingly remembered by her family: Children Peggy (McKim), Chris, Jacqueline (John), Katy (Steve); Grandchildren: Jenna (Alex), Alex (Jessica), Greg (Carly), Benjamin (Chelsea), Emily, Nicholas (Kristen) and Michael; Great Grandchildren: Carl, James, Owen, Scarlett, Arthur as well as cherished sister Ruby Benoy, nephew Glen (Bethany), niece Nancy (Ed) and 4 great nieces and 1 great nephew. Dearly missed by her friends and colleagues of 27 years at M&M Food Market, the Fergus Chamber of Commerce and Business Community, and her Etobicoke Collegiate High School Friend group of more than 60 years. Her CGIT family will hold her forever in their hearts. Predeceased by her husband Ken (2022) of 63 years, her parents, Roy (1972) and Margaret (2010) and brother-in-law Art Benoy (2012). Visitation will take place at Graham Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A memorial service to celebrate Aileen’s life will take place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Fergus, on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 11:00am, followed by an hour of fellowship and stories. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at Groves Hospital who lovingly and compassionately cared for her during her time in hospital especially Dr. Kaminga and the nurses in the Complex Care Unit. Aileen was cared for with dignity and compassion during her final days. In celebration and memory of Aileen, memorial donations can be made in Aileen’s name to Groves Community Memorial Hospital Foundation or a Charity of choice.
