HANNAH, Francis (Frank) Gordon

January 10, 1934 - October 13, 2024

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Frank Hannah of Belwood, Ontario on Sunday, October 13th at the age of 90. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Elaine; children: Wendy (Paul), David (Janette), Douglas (Catherine), Michael (Patricia); grandchildren: Ellen, Tristram, Clayton and Zachary; great grandchildren: Gordon, Leon, Pippin and Freya. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Jennifer, brother Blair, sisters Shirley and Sandra and his parents Alexander (Sandy) and Frances. Frank attended high school at South Collegiate in London, Ontario; his interest in flying led him to join Air Cadets and the RCAF. Frank was posted to 430 squadron flying the F86 Sabre and was based in Grostenquin, France. Frank and Elaine were married on October 8th 1955. His airline career started at TCA in 1957 on the Viscount and in 1961 he was given the opportunity to fly for BEA based in London and Prestwick for 3 years, which he eagerly accepted. This enabled him to reconnect with his Scottish roots and family back in the homeland. His career at Air Canada included the Vickers Viscount, DC 9, DC 8, B727 and B767. His nickname amongst many friends and family was Captain Frank and he was often described as a gentleman by his fellow pilots. In retirement he liked to keep busy; he spent several years training pilots on the 767 at Air Canada as well as working at Home Hardware. He always kept close ties with the community throughout his life by getting involved in many different organizations including the United Church, Scouting, Probus and his retirement community at Pine Meadows. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Frank’s name to The Alzheimer Society or St. John’s United Church Belwood. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Riverside Glen for their care and compassion.
