Hamnett, A. Gordon; Peacefully on March 20, 2012, supported by the love of his family. Dearly loved husband of Elizabeth Hamnett (May 2010) for 65 years. Cherished father of Carolyn and husband Tom Skimson, Gordon and wife Jane Gogan and Glenna and husband Geoffrey Faulkner. Devoted grandfather of Erin, Stephen and Mark Skimson, Robin (Campbell) and Michael Faulkner and Sandon Hamnett, and great-grandfather of Tristan and Haiden Campbell, Cameron and William Peters, Meredith and Charlotte Skimson and Eliza and Cecilia Skimson. Pre-deceased by his parents, James and Helen (Cant), sisters Betty and Helen and brother Jimmy. Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews. Employee of Northern Electric in Quebec and Ontario for over 40 years. Gordon and Betty considered family their most significant life accomplishment. Together they enjoyed many years of cottaging in the Laurentians and Lake Kawagama, indulging a love of fishing, flora and fauna (especially hummingbirds). Gordon and his family have been exceedingly grateful to Heritage River Retirement Home and its staff, the Palliative Care Teams of the CW Family Health Team and WWDG CCAC, and Wellington Hospice for their committed and sensitive care. A celebration of Gordon’s life will be held at the Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 37 Church St. E., Elora, on Friday, March 23, 2012, with visiting from 9:30am and service at 11am, followed by interment at the Elora Cemetery. Reception will follow at the Graham Giddy Funeral Home.
