Guthrie, William Gordon; Went peacefully to be with his Lord & Savior at the Guelph General Hospital on Thursday, March 10, 2011. Gord Guthrie at the age of 86 years. Beloved husband of the late Kay (Butcher) Guthrie (2004). Loving father of Frank (Karen), Gordon Jr. (Dawn) and Scott (Deb). Proud grandfather of Cameron (Rachel), Janice (Aaron) Douma, Alyssa, Toby and Brooklynne. Great grandfather of Anakin and Adelaide. Gord was the dear brother of Elizabeth Gardner of Hamilton, Olive Bleach (Bill), Rae Guthrie and brother-in-law of Carol Guthrie all of Guelph. He was predeceased by his brother Frank Guthrie, brother-in-law Bruce Gardner and sister-in-law Eileen Guthrie. Gord was a long time owner of Guthrie’s Bakery. In later years he started Gordon Guthrie Insurance and after the merger became the ambassador of Sutherland Insurance. Gordon was a Veteran of the Second World War, founding member of Lakeside Church and enjoyed being in God’s nature. A kind and gentle man, his generosity knew no bounds; a joyful, positive person whose love was unconditional to all. The funeral service was held at Lakeside Church on Monday, March 14 at 11am with Pastor David Ralph officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
