Obituary

Barry Everard Gray of Harriston passed away at Palmerston Hospital on Thursday, October 17, 2024, in his 78th year. Devoted husband of 58 years to Marion Gray. Father of Kim Gray & Trevor Edwards, Kathy & Kevin Statia, and Kevin & Laura Gray of Harriston. Loving and proud grandfather of Abbi & Tyler, Colton & Destiny, Josh, and Julia, and Papa to Nevaeh and Kane.  Brother of Lloyd Gray, Keith & Janice Gray, Donna & Tom Armstrong, and brother-in-law of Elizabeth & Raymond Hooper, and John & Sandra McFarlane. Barry was born in Brampton on December 4, 1946 to the late Everard & Hazel (Codlin) Gray, and married Marion Cation on September 10, 1966. Barry & Marion moved to Harriston in May, 1969 where they farmed and raised their family. In the spring of 1980, Gray’s Auction Service Inc was started and flourished into the successful family business that it is today. One to be involved in what was important to him, Barry was a founding member of the Ontario Auction Association, serving in multiple capacities including as the secretary of the Canadian Auction Association. Barry was always willing to give his time for community fundraisers including Ducks Unlimited Canada, Harriston-Minto Fall Fair, Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation, and many others. Visitation was held at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston, on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00pm. The funeral service was held in Harriston United Church on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 1:30pm. The service was livestreamed and the link available on the funeral home website. A continued celebration of Barry’s life at Harriston Legion, immediately followed the funeral. Interment in Harriston Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Harriston United Church or the Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
