It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we share Mark’s sudden passing on June 20th, 2024, as the result of a tragic motorcycle accident near Victoria, BC. Mark will be forever loved and missed by his mother, Lynn Glapski, sister, Christine Leifso, brother-in-law Perry, his two beautiful daughters, Isabella and Sofia Glapski of Squamish, BC, whom he loved and adored, and was extremely proud of. Also left to mourn his untimely passing is his very special friend and confidante, Annette McDougall, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family members, friends, previous co-workers, bandmates, and his special riding friends. Predeceased by many family members, the most recent and most impactful, his father, Fred Glapski (Feb 1, 1947 – Dec 9, 2023). Mark was a talented artist, woodworker, boat builder, drummer/musician, whose original signed and framed artwork will be forever cherished by his mom, Lynn. His high school friends and bandmates will remember their local bands and performances together, as will his BC friends and bandmates from when he relocated there for 26 years at the age of twenty. Mark loved nature, all animals, and of course, “the open road”. Having only just lost his dad, Fred, six months earlier, the family is somehow grateful that he was doing what he loved, on his dad’s old classic bike, and that they are together now, “riding free”. Mark’s adventurous mind, body and soul led him on many journeys throughout his life, enjoying camping, boating, fishing, waterskiing, and rock-climbing. His great spirit for life led him to the love of “The Sun, The Moon, and The Stars”… Mark’s family would like to express their utmost gratitude and appreciation to everyone for everything they did to care for him: First on-scene Cst. Roznowski of the Saanich PD and first responders, Dr. Thomas and his team at the Victoria General Hospital ICU, Funeral Directors Raina, John and their team at Affordable Cremation & Burial Ltd, Leif and Tanya at Totem Towing, plus anyone and everyone else that may have been involved and were there for Mark when we were unable to be. Cremation has taken place, and Mark is now “home” with family, where he can finally rest, and be at peace. No future arrangements have yet been made at this time…
