GILLEN, Olivia Amy Jade

May 25, 1995 - December 5, 2022

27, of Kelowna, BC passed away on December 5th, 2022. Olivia was born on May 25th, 1995 in Mississauga, Ontario. Her Mother Jacinta Cassidy (Gillen) moved Olivia to Fergus, Ontario in 1998. Olivia attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School and Centre Wellington District High School in Fergus. After graduation, Olivia went on to study marketing at Sheridan College (Brampton) and then attended Georgian College (Barrie) where she graduated in Travel and Tourism. Olivia moved to BC in 2018 where she worked in various tourism jobs before becoming a Games dealer at Playtime Casino in Kelowna. Olivia bounced through life with a gleam in her eye and a skip in her step. Olivia loved people and made friends everywhere she went. She was always a brave person who was a protector of the weak and an angel to the outcast. Olivia was indeed the life of the party. Those closest to her know that Olivia was happiest when working toward a goal; becoming a lifeguard, a swimming instructor, a bartender, a musician. Olivia lit up when she performed, whether it was on stage in school plays or community theatre, singing in the church choir, jamming with the band or performing covers and her own music at local events and festivals. Olivia was brimming with life, love and talent in equal measure. Many will miss her soulful voice and big, beautiful heart. Mourning their loss are her parents Jacinta (Gillen) and James Cassidy, her sister Riley Hall, her Grandfather Jim Gillen, her uncles Kevin and Patrick Gillen, her Grandmother Christine Coburn (David), Aunt Alex Hymers (Jeremy), father Mark Martyn and extended family, her cousin Colette Brodie, Glama Mona Cassidy, and Aunt Chrystal Cassidy (Derek Hess). Olivia was predeceased by her beloved Nana; Georgina Gillen (Lowe), her Uncle Bill Brodie, and her great Grandparents; Amy (Turner) and Ormand Gillen. Funeral Mass will take place at 11am on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at St. Joseph Parish in Fergus. Following Mass, family and friends are invited to the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus for refreshments and the sharing of memories of Olivia. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Olivia may be made to the BC SPCA, the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington or to Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis, and are greatly appreciated by her family.
