The world lost a beloved mother, Lorraine Dorothy Gilbert (Myers), after her battle with breast cancer. She crossed over to heaven on September 8th, 2022 with her daughters by her side. Lorraine is predeceased by her loving husband Rob (Robin) Gilbert. They shared over 67 years of marriage and enjoyed their lives together. Their two daughters, Denise (Steve) and Susan are left behind with great memories and love. Ryan, Kevin (Ashley), Kaitlyn (Josh), and Andrew, her grandchildren will always be comforted by their memories of the yearly decorated gingerbread houses, big hugs and always someone to listen. Carson, her great grandchild, will fondly remember Gigi as always having great gifts and spending quality family time together. Lorraine was born in Toronto to Emily and Marshall Myers. Raised in Highland Creek with her two sisters June (Ted) and Shirley (Herb). They raised their family in Scarborough and then enjoyed their retirement years in the town of Elora. Rob was her #1 love, but volunteering to help others was a close second. Receiving her 30 year of volunteering medallion was a proud day for Lorraine as it recognized her work at the Groves Hospital, Wellington County Museum, Knox Church in Elora and many other volunteering experiences throughout her life. Later in her years, Lorraine started to research her family tree and got it all the way back to the first century. She made a book with all the findings to leave as a reminder. Anything to do with crafting was also something she loved to do, quilting, painting, and many more projects as her closet and home suggested. Family and friends are welcome to a celebration of life for Lorraine and Rob Gilbert that will take place on Sunday October 16th. Visitation is from 2-3pm and the service is at 3pm, followed by light food and coffee at Glen Oaks Funeral Home, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville. In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcome to the Heart House Hospice.com in Lorraine and Rob’s name.
