GANZEBOER, Theresa (Tryntje)

After 91 years, the Lord called home Theresa (Tryntje) Ganzeboer (née Winia) on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Beloved wife of Rollie (Roelof) Ganzeboer for over 61 years. Loving mother of Hilda, Gloria (James), Eddie and Brian. Doting Oma of Theresa (Albert), Staci (Lucas), Joshua (Shekanah), Justin (Hayley), Josiah, Jonathan, Melanie, Jake, Matt (Natalie), Kurt, Amos, and Lyle. Sweetest Great Oma of Micah, Kalyna, Ava, Ellia, Koen, Boaz, Felix, Anja, Emilia, and Annaleigh. Mom was the middle child of 9 children, born to Yme and Hiltje Winia. Predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Gertie, Menno, Ann, Elmer, Pietje, Jane and Hilda. Survived by her brother Simon and brother-in-law Lorne. She came to Canada in 1951 with her parents and 3 youngest sisters. Eventually, she moved to Guelph, where she met her future sweetheart husband. They married and lived in Guelph for two years and then moved to the farm in Elora. They were blessed with 4 children. Her generosity and kindness were very apparent to all who knew her. She was a member of the Bon Accord Club, a Sunday school teacher, baked cookies for VBS and helped in the kitchen at Camp Shalom. She volunteered many hours at the OPP Shop where she was a 25+ year member and used her gift of knitting for the Ladies Mission at St. Andrew’s Church. She was an avid 5 pin bowler and scored 1 perfect game. She enjoyed watching the Blue Jays. Her family was very important to her. Keeping a tidy, clean home, doing laundry, making meals – especially for birthdays, Christmases and other family get togethers – showed her love and brought her joy. Her blueberry and cherry cheesecakes are a family favourite, no special occasion was without them. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to Vacation Bible School, Sunday School and giving them ice cream cones before bed. She enjoyed visits with her family and rejoiced over every milestone. She had an unwavering faith in her Lord, and it was evident to her family and others in all that she did. The family would like to give special thanks to the home caregivers, who allowed her to spend more time at home. Donations in her memory may be sent to Groves Memorial Hospital, where she was given excellent care, or a charity of your choice. A private family celebration of life to be held at a later date at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, Fergus.
