Of Elmira formerly of Arthur and Mt. Forest passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 in her 83rd year. Beloved daughter of the late George and Eva (Dowling) French. Doris was a half sister of Anne Evans of Elmira. Aunt of Ralph and Pat French of Fergus, Bill and Linda French of Kitchener, Norma and Bill McDougall of Elora, Lois and Ted Parker of Toronto, Nancy and Tom Sagaskie of Fergus, Janet and Gligo Risovich of Toronto and Jane French of Rockwood. Doris’ life involved 37 years in education and she was very proud of her accomplishments over those years and the degrees she obtained and positions she held. Doris had a love for travel and over the years travelled extensively chaperoning school trips and travelling with friends and her mother during retirement. In her earlier years she was active in her church and community volunteering and heading many committees. She loved photography, gardening, her wood working shop, and a good game of golf when she lived in Arthur. Her sense of humour and her story telling will also be remembered by anyone who knew her. Doris was predeceased by her step brothers Mervin and Ken French and step sister Gladys Bailey. Thank you to friends. The funeral service was held on Friday, May 6, 2022.
