It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elaine Sandra Fletcher. She passed peacefully on May 22nd at her home, surrounded by her husband Brad, and their four daughters, Cara (Matthew), Mandy (Kacper), Jennifer (Michael), and Rachel (Brett). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren (“little sunshines”) Iris, Adam, Zander, Dominic, Isaac, and Elias. Elaine was born January 11, 1963 to Beverley and Lloyd May. She was a sister to Maxine (Richard), Glen, Brenda (Ken), Heidi (Chris), and Bridget (Shawn). When she married Brad in 1983 she became like a daughter to Phyllis and Ray Fletcher, and a sister to Ron (Kate), Peg (Bob), and Mary-Lou (Gary). She was also loved by her many nieces and nephews. In 1983 she graduated from Sheridan College with a diploma in Fashion Technique and Design, which led to a lifetime of sewing projects for family, friends, and the community. She also worked as a seamstress for custom sewing shops. Many people will remember Elaine at the Blue Willow Teashop, where she worked as a server for over ten years. She was also a passionate cook and baker, well-known for her homemade bread. The grandchildren loved Nana’s gingerbread cookies. She enjoyed gardening, travelling, camping, canoeing, and hiking. Elaine was also a lifelong and faithful member of the United Church. On May 26th, family and friends were welcomed at her home in Gravenhurst for visitation and sharing memories. On May 27th her family shared in a beautiful lakeside gathering to celebrate Elaine’s life. Donations can be made to Ronald McDonald House and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Elaine’s memory.
