EWEN, Spencer John

December 4, 1998 - February 7, 2024

We are with great sadness that we announce the passing of Spencer John Ewen, age 25, who passed away on February 7th 2024 after an extremely courageous battle against a very rare and aggressive cancer. Spencer was surrounded by his loved ones at his family home and was at peace in his final days. Spencer leaves behind the love of his life, his greatest advocate, his sweet, precious wife, Tina Ewen (Marques). Spencer’s passing leaves a terrible void now and always, as the only child of Barry Ewen. He will forever be missed by his big brother and good friend, Chris Feil, and his beautiful niece, Carissa Feil, whom he shared a close relationship with. Spencer is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by his loving mother, Nancy Ewen, and his beloved grandparents. Spencer was born in Guelph Ontario to Barry and Nancy Ewen on December 4th 1998. Spencer lived in Fergus throughout his life, and with his outgoing and charming personality he became friends with just about everyone he met, leaving a remarkable impact on our community. Spencer went to highschool at Centre Wellington District High School graduating in 2017 and then went on to pursue a career as a Sheet Metal Worker. Spencer took great pride in his work and was very successful in his career, working at Arthurs Fuel for the last 5 years. Spencer found joy in attending car shows and working on cars with his friends. At just age 24, shortly before he and Tina had their fabulous wedding, Spencer was able to purchase a Honda S2000. On July 22nd 2023, he had acquired the car of his dreams and the wife of his dreams. It was an unforgettable moment watching them drive off, top down, hands clasped, and entangled with the bridal bouquet, which they held in the air in a “we did it” type of gesture. From a young age, Spencer enjoyed collecting hockey cards; during the last few months he became passionate about his card collection and found so much joy in buying and selling cards, as well as creating an impressive display. Spencer loved going on adventures and often filled every weekend of his summer with plans, including; going to the cottage in Pike Bay, fishing, playing sports, camping, going away on weekend trips with friends, attending concerts, and many other spontaneous events. Spencer undoubtedly lived his life to the fullest. Spencer met his highschool sweetheart Tina, beginning their relationship in 2016. Spencer and Tina were inseparable and had a kind of unconditional love that everyone admired. They were each other’s best friends, confidants, biggest supporters, and truly each other’s entire worlds. The two of them really grew up together, and as they matured, they consistently grew closer. Spencer was indeed the most incredible husband, who remained ever sweet and tender as he always had been despite suffering pain and unrelenting losses throughout his battle. He found great strength in the faith that he and Tina shared and even in the most difficult circumstances, he proved over and over to be a strong, brave, and faithful husband. A visitation will be held at Graham Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus, on Sunday February 18th, 2024 from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Funeral service will take place later that afternoon at 3:00pm, at the Grand River Community Church in Elora, with a reception to follow. Spencer has been cremated and his remains will be buried at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Sarcoma Cancer Foundation of Canada. (http://sarcomacancer.ca/donate). The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the hospitals, doctors, nurses, and staff who provided great care to Spencer. Most importantly, the family would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank Dr. John Stickney, who has supported the Ewen family for many generations. Dr. Stickney was dedicated, and went above and beyond to prioritize Spencer’s quality of life and wishes.
