ERNST, Gladys “Mrs. Mount Forest”, Gladys Emma Ernst (nee Yungblut) passed away in the company of loving friends at Saugeen Valley Nursing Center, Mount Forest on Tuesday, February 20th, 2018 aged 105 years, 8 months, 20 days. Beloved wife of the late Leverne Ernst. Loving mother of Marilyn Dibbs and her husband David and grandmother of Jessica Dibbs all of Australia. Special aunt of Sharon Joynson of British Columbia, Paul and Leah Youngblut of Acton, and niece-in-law Margaret Youngblut of Dunnville. Gladys will be fondly remembered by her six great nieces and nephews, and eight great-great nieces. Also feeling the loss is her family at Saugeen Valley Nursing Center and treasured friend Carol Leibold (Glenn). Predeceased by her siblings Lorne and Jean Youngblut, Gordon and Lenore Youngblut; Kathleen and Allan Crawford, nephew John (Jack) Youngblut and nephew-in-law Al Joynson. Hundreds of children were taught in elementary schools in Minto, Arthur, Fergus, Toronto and Mount Forest by Miss Yungblut or Mrs. Ernst. Gladys was a member of the Mount Forest United Church where she was awarded a lifetime membership from the UCW. She was well known for her beautiful flowers and involvement in the Horticultural Society. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Gladys’ life will be held at the Mount Forest United Church, 175 Queen Street East, Mount Forest on Saturday, March 10th at 11 a.m. with visitation prior to the service from 10-10:45 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Mount Forest United Church, Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
