Heaven called home a beautiful soul today, Verna (Nana) Epoch (Yeomans), December 11, 2020 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Frank J. Epoch (1992). Cherished and much loved mother of Ruth Anne and Norm Staples, Tim and Paula Epoch (2018) and Debbie Jackson, Bonnie and Wayne Rooney, Mary Jo and Mike Marshall, Fran and George Turnbull, Paul and Sheri Epoch. Grandchildren are the treasures of a long life and the love between a grandchild and a grandmother is forever…. so without a doubt, Nana will be missed by her 15 grandchildren, Gary, Dennis (Michelle), Tom (Lindsay), Brian (Julie), Adam (Daneal), Jamie (Lindsay), Amy, Rob (Betsy), Lisa (Joel), Jessica (Ryan), Andrew, Nick (Vanessa), Julia (David), Rebecca-Lynn (1998), Matthew and 8 great grandchildren Kailen, Ella, Nora, Griffin, Stella, Jade, Lucas and Madelyn. Verna will be missed by her sister, Jane Sumner and sister-in-law, Helen Aitchison as well as her many loving nieces and nephews. Verna was pre-deceased by her brothers, Jim, Bruce, Richard and sister Jean. Her sister-in law’s Mary, Lesley, Lin, Geraldine, Marg, Eugenia, and brother-in law’s Bernard, Don and Bob. Verna’s passion in life was humble: family, friends and her faith in God. She loved the fact that her family lived close by and instilled in each of them strong values that have served them well. She had the most generous heart to anyone who might have crossed paths with her. She loved to cook and she did not hesitate to share her baking – especially her “Nana brownies”! Gardening was also a passion and she definitely had a green thumb, which not all of us were fortunate enough to inherit. She also loved that she lived so close to her church. The Lourdes Grotto at Sacred Heart Church in Kenilworth was one of her favourite places to spend time and pray. She was a 65+ long time member of the Catholic Women’s League of Sacred Heart church, having taken on many positions in the Sacred Heart Parish league. The family would like to thank Dr. Jones, Dr. Lund, Dr. Lin, Dr. Renner, the nursing staff at Groves Memorial Hospital and the PSW’s from Closing the Gap for their exceptional compassion and care. Due to the situation that we are all living with during 2020, a private family funeral will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020. The service will be available for friends to view below Verna’s notice on the funeral home web site on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. In lieu of flowers, donations to the “Lourdes Grotto/Sacred Heart Church”, donations can be mailed to Sacred Heart Church, Kenilworth, Ontario, N0G 2E0 and would be most appreciated by her family and on-line condolences would be appreciated.
“We love you and will miss you Mom! Your suffering is over….”
