English, Dr. Robert Lorne. Son of the late John (Jack) and Vivian Merle (nee Kennedy) English, passed away peacefully at Wellington Terrace on February 13, 2013. Bob will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 37 years Sandra (nee Baer); dear brother John (Irene); brother-in-law Howard Baer and his wife Anne; and brother-in-law Murray Baer and his partner Jeanne. Uncle Bob was greatly adored by Jonathan (Elena); Shawna and her husband Tim and their three children; Geena; Jessica and her fiancé Kyle; Andrew; Kate and her two children; BJ; and Scott (d. 1994). Bob will be forever, lovingly remembered by Monica Dudley and her husband Mark and their children Joshua and Kyle; and Christopher Alford. “Dr. Bob” was a Family Physician for 36 years, serving the last 28 years of his career in the Fergus community. He served as an appointed Coroner, and Chief of Staff at Groves Hospital. He was instrumental in establishing the Rural Medical education program with McMaster University, which resulted in numerous local medical recruitments. He also served on many community and medical boards. He enjoyed traveling, bridge, curling, band, camping, golfing, boating, fishing, and his Tilley hats! Visitation was held at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 280 St. David St. South in Fergus on Monday, February 18, 2013 from 10:00 -12:00 pm and 1:00 – 3:00 pm with a Memorial Service that took place in the chapel at 3:00 pm following the visitation.
