Drew-Brook, Lorraine (nee Jackson)

Drew-Brook, Lorraine (nee Jackson); died peacefully on  August 19th, 2009 at the Groves Hospital in Fergus, in her  75th year from complications from Parkinson’s disease. She was the beloved wife of Hugh Drew-Brook of Salem, Ontario, daughter of the late Jim and Laura Jackson of Cambridge, Ontario and was pre deceased by her brother Jim.  Lorraine was the sister-in-law of Elizabeth and Jack Wiegand of Cambridge and of Ann Drew-Brook of Toronto. Lorraine was the step mother of Deborah and Alan Drew-Brook-Cormack, Carol Rotterman, David Drew-Brook, and partner Laura, and grandmother of Andrew Rotterman. Lorraine’s family and friends will treasure her indomitable spirit, her concern for others, and her courage. Lorraine was born visually impaired and studied at the School for the Blind in Brantford. Lorraine was blessed with a beautiful coloratura singing voice, and she won a scholarship to the School of Music Royal Conservatory of Toronto, where she graduated first in her class. In spite of her handicap, Lorraine lived a very full and active life teaching singing first in Cambridge, and then in Toronto, and later in Elora. She was a long time member of the Toronto Home Music Club. Lorraine received the Lescarbot Award in 1991, for her work with the Grand Theatre in Fergus and the establishment of the Gallery Music Club, in 1989.  Lorraine was a member of the Elora United Church Choir for many years.

A memorial service will be held at the Elora United Church (corner of Church and Geddes Street).  August 29th, 2009 at 2PM. Funeral arrangements by Giddy Funeral Home (519-846-5352).
