Dow, David John; Born in the Township of West Garafraxa on July 5, 1921, David passed away peacefully in his sleep at Saugeen Valley Nursing Centre, Mount Forest, on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Marjorie (Martin) for 59 years. Loving father of Sharon Roadhouse (Don) of Redbridge, Wayne (Carol) of Fergus and Bruce (Florence) of Arthur. Sadly missed by his 6 grandchildren Matthew Roadhouse (Umber) of Ottawa, Cher Riesen (Scott) of Guatemala, Craig (Nadia) of Bradford, Michelle Epoch (Dennis) of Fergus, Robert (Melanie) of Arthur, Randy (Sarah) of Bolton, and 11 great grandchildren. David leaves behind his brothers Clifford, Lloyd (Eleanor), sisters-in-law Roberta and Shirley and is predeceased by his brothers Gordon, Doug and sister-in-law Doris. A resident of Fergus for 65 years and Beatty Brothers retiree after 43 years of service. David was an elder at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, a charter member of St. John’s Ambulance and an active member of many volunteer organizations. Resting at the Thomson Funeral Home (160 St. David Street N., Fergus 519-843-2380). Visitation was on Sunday, March 15 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A service was held in the chapel on Monday, March 16 at 1pm. Cremation followed. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or to Groves Memorial Hospital Foundation would be gratefully accepted.
