Passed away peacefully in her sleep with her dog Chip and daughters by her side in her 69th year, after a 9-month long battle with lung cancer. Charlene was born on February 19th, 1953, in Windsor, Ontario to Violet Contini and Charles Douglas, but remained a resident of Guelph for the majority of her life. Charlene loved taking family trips and spending time outdoors in Northern Ontario. Charlene is survived by her two children Tara (Craig) Spinks and Kayla (Mark) Spinks; her siblings Dennis (Pauline) Douglas, Brian Douglas, Paul (Patti) Douglas, Tom Douglas, Cheryl (Roxy) Douglas, Colleen (Mitch) Douglas, and many nieces, nephews and friends that she loved dearly. As per Charlene’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, where the family will receive friends and relatives for visitation on Friday, July 29, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and Saturday, July 30 from 11:00am – 1:00pm. A Funeral Service will be take place in the Hart Chapel following the second visit on Saturday, July 30 beginning at 1:00pm. Guests are welcome to join the family for a reception in the Hart Fellowship Lounge after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Grand River Cancer Center or the Canadian Blood Services would be appreciated by the family. Donations can be made by cash or cheque at the funeral home or online.
