Darrington, Les; It is with great sadness and heavy hearts Ruth Darrington along with children Stacey (Dhana) & Heather (Russ) announce the passing of life of their husband/father Leslie Ray Darrington on Sunday, June 8, 2014. He will be greatly missed by his loving and adoring wife of more than 60 years, Ruth. Tears of sadness being shared by Granddaughter Monica and her husband Ryan and great grandson Owen, as well as Grandson Jeremy and his wife Kristina and great-granddaughter Kyla. Predeceased by his baby sister Elsie, and parents Ernest and Ruby, and his loyal dog Happy. Les was an exemplary farmer who was also very active within his own community and will be missed by friends and neighbours. Les recently retired from the Wellington County Plowman’s Association, as well as the Ontario Plowman’s Association, for health reasons, served as a church elder most of his life, led several 4-H clubs, 4-H exchanges, became a 4-H leader, was part of the Farm Safety Association, Wellington County Pork Producers, Ontario Pork Producers, Farm Labour Pool, and would help neighbours and friends alike whenever called upon, and still found time to go to community dances. Les enjoyed seeing the world and was an avid traveller with his wife Ruth by his side, and providing their children with first hand education of what North America was all about. Visitation to be held at Graham Giddy Funeral Home 37 Church St., Elora, Thursday June 12 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Celebration of life to be held at Elora United Church, Friday June 13 at 1pm, followed by burial, and fellowship. In lieu of flowers donations to the Elora United Church Greenfund would be greatly appreciated, or the charity of your choice. Les fought a courageous battle with cancer and extreme health issues in the past 2 months and was determined to get well and come back home to his family.
