CUNNINGHAM, June Marie (Lang), 70, passed way at Victoria Hospital in London on January 15th after a heroic and courageous battle with ALS. June was born in Toronto on New Year’s Day 1948 to the late Clayton and Anna Lang. She was a life-long resident of Harriston, involved in her community, where she was proudly elected to serve a term as councilwoman. June dedicated her life to serving the needs of others up to a few days before her death. She approached her devastating diagnosis in an astonishingly positive manner by learning to use technologies that made living with ALS more manageable. Left to honour her are her three children: Brian (Lyla) of Moncton, NB, Mike (Steve) of London, and April of Guelph; three grandchildren: Kari, Emma and Zack; three great grandchildren: Aydreanne, Paisley, and Molly. She will be greatly missed by her sisters Barb (Harold) and Georgia (Tony); her brothers Francis (Margaret) and Dan; her sister-in-law Gail and brother-in-law Joe, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Gary and her sister Elaine. The family would like to thank June’s many dear friends, relatives and neighbours who assisted her to remain independent over the past several months. Also special thanks to the ALS team at University Hospital, and the Palliative Care team at Victoria Hospital, both in London. A Celebration of Life will be held at Community Living Minto, 106 Thomas Street in Harriston on Sunday January 21st between 1:00 and 4:00 PM. Cremation has already taken place. Donations to the ALS Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.
