COUNSELL, Charlene

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charlene Counsell, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Charlene peacefully departed this world on Wednesday, June 14th, 2023, joining her late husband, Jim Counsell, who passed away January 1st, 2020. Charlene dedicated most of her life to being a mother to her children, Jeffery, Kelly (Dan O’Callaghan), and Gregory (Sonya Mercer), and a loving, supportive wife to her husband Jim to whom she was married for more than 68 years. Being “Nana” was a role that brought Charlene joy. Sarah, Jesse, Emily, Michael, Matthew, Kenny, Logan, and the late Laura were the light of her life. Charlene cherished many precious moments spent with her grandchildren, particularly on the shores of Georgian Bay at Thunder Beach. In more recent years, Charlene was fortunate to know the joy of great-grandchildren, Sage and Kai. Charlene expressed her creativity and artistic flair through her love of fashion, and at one time through beautiful pottery creations.  Charlene possessed an adventurous spirit and travelled extensively. Scuba diving was one of her passions. She stared down sharks, explored wrecks, gathered lobsters, marvelled at coral reefs, and dodged barracuda. Her diving adventures enriched her life and provided her with unforgettable experiences. Even though Charlene used to be a regular on the ski slopes in Quebec, her first love was for a tropical beach, particularly in Jamaica. She was a free spirit, a wonderful dancer, a wonderful mother, and a devoted wife. She will be forever remembered by her family and will be missed always. A Funeral Service to celebrate Charlene’s life will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, at 11:00am, with a time of visitation beginning at 10:00am. Interment Holy Redeemer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. To send expressions of sympathy, please visit www.jonesfuneralhome.co
