COTTRILL, Richard “Rick” A.

Of Toronto, Muskoka, Port Carling, and Erin, passed away from Cancer in Guelph on Thursday, April 4, 2024, in the loving care of Hospice Wellington and his wife, Dawn. Rick bravely endured years of prolonged illness throughout his life. Son of the late Robert Anthony Cottrill of England and Toronto and the late Audrey Grace Cottrill of Toronto and Port Carling. Dear cousin to Michael (Lynda) Stringer of Oro Medonte, the late Carolyn Kent-Ghikadis and the late William Ghikadis of Bracebridge, Christopher (Allyson) Talbot of the Azores, the late Charles (Jean) Talbot M.B.E. and Lawrence Talbot of Kidderminster, England. Nephew of Inez and Doris Kent of Toronto and Elizabeth Spencer-Wood of Bromsgrove, England. Brother of Stephen Cottrill of British Columbia. Brother-in-law of Janette (Tim) Carver of Lockport, New York and Janelle (James) Wagener of Youngstown, New York. Dear son-in-law of the late Paul and Virginia Mack Eddy of Niagara Falls, New York. Friend of Stephen Wheatly of Redding, England, Hal Brown of Orangeville, Peter Salloum of Toronto, Lou Nelson of Kitchener, Dr. Gordon Squires of Toronto, Grant Cottrill of Toronto, Bob Medland of Toronto, and the late Jack Schneider of Calgary. Rick will be missed by many nieces and nephews in the United States; Paul, Jamie, Katie, Carrie, Jenny, and Doris. Rick attended many schools in Toronto throughout his life, including, Crescent School, Upper Canada College, and Ryerson University for Business. Rick loved spending his time in nature. He enjoyed his summers out in Muskoka with Dawn. He was an avid sailor and would spend many hours out sailing on the water. Rick had a beautiful home in the country where he liked to tinker around the property.

Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at the Historic Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls, New York, in the Mack family plots. Arrangements entrusted to Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel (519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com). Memorial donations to Hospice Wellington or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
