COOPER, James Peter “Jim”. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Peter Cooper. Jim passed away on May 29, 2015 at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus. He will be forever missed by his wife Doreen and daughters Lesley (Ray) Royle, Lorraine (Mark) Cooper-Grenke and Melanie (Steve) Cooper-Nixon. Proud grandfather of Kelly and Amy (Jon) Royle, Jordan (Stephanie) and Nathan Grenke, Griffin and Wyatt Cooper-Brown and great-grandfather to Maisie and Evie Flood, Hadley and Everett Grenke and his amazing nephew Carl (Brigitte)Cooper. Also sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews in Canada, England and South Africa and his remaining Uncle Albert (Ethel) Cooper. Born in Salford, England on December 15, 1927, the eldest of five children to Annie and James Cooper followed by brother William (Billy), Henry Joseph (Joe/Harry) deceased, sister Carol and brother Albert. Included also is a special “brother” by love and not birth John (Pat) Land. He enlisted in the Royal British Army at age 18 in 1945 with the Burmese Malaysian Scouting Troop and served with the Royal British Army until 1952. He married his true love Doreen Kelly in September 1951 and remained her devoted husband till his passing. His 55 year passion for the sport of Judo exemplifies his love of sports of all kinds and its importance in shaping children and their futures. In lieu of flowers it would be the family’s wish for any donations to be directed to Right to Play, an organization that transforms lives through the power of sport and play www.righttoplay.ca or www.grahamgiddyfh.com. Our deepest Thanks to Dr. Jafferjee, CCAC and the caring staff of Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus. Extended thanks to The Royal Canadian Legion for all their support. A special Thank You to James at Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home for his guidance and kindness throughout this sad time. In place of a funeral service a “Celebration of Life” will be announced at a later date.
