COOK, Lenore Ruby

October 11, 1938 - March 22, 2022

Lenore Ruby Cook passed away at Central Place Retirement Home in Owen Sound on Tuesday March 22, 2022 in her 84th year. Much loved sister of Carolyn Doherty and her husband Michael, Goderich; Eric Cook and his wife Janice, Fergus; Sister-in-law Dorothy Cook, Mount Forest and brother-in-law Arnold Small, Mount Forest. She is survived by 16 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and several great great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Mae and Ross Cook, her siblings Karl Cook, Gwen Small, Alyce Small, her brother’s-in law Sam Small and Robert Jackson as well as one nephew Dean Jackson. She was born in Damascus, the 3rd child of Mae and Ross Cook. She attended Arthur District High School and upon graduation went to Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital to train as a Lab Technician. After several years working in Toronto she moved to Owen Sound and worked in the lab at the hospital there, retiring in August of 1996. She loved the game of golf and when retired played several times a week, walking the 18 holes right up to 2019. She was also a knitter, a curler and a spoiler of nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a very special thank you to Brenda Hicks and Sharon McKenzie, the best friends a gal could ever wish for. They have given their time and compassion over many years to visit, chauffeur her to appointments and deliver Tim Horton’s coffee and Boston cream donuts, especially since she moved to Central Place. We know at times it was not easy and we thank you. As expressions of sympathy, donations could be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Society. As requested by Lenore there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place.
