As written by Jean, herself, Jean Ann Connor age 81 passed away on December 3rd, 2020 at home due to natural causes. Predeceased by her parents, Pauline and Greg Murray of Fergus and her brother Richard Murray of Guelph. Also predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward Hawkins (2017). Surviving her is her brother Jon Murray of Fergus and her very good (special) friend, the son she never had, Shawn Bursey, of St. John’s NFLD. Also survived by her close friend and caregiver Kim-Marie Lesperance, along with her daughters, my “granddaughters”, of Fergus. Jean is also survived by her stepdaughter Lesli Schelling and her family, of Thunder Bay. Jean would like to acknowledge and thank, her amazing caregiver Paloma von fielitz, of Elora. Jean was fortunate to have had caregivers Debbie M., Deb H. and Tina and other PSWS from Closing the Gap. Jean’s interests were helping other people and reading. Jean’s love of teaching and reading added the title of Librarian to her resume. Pauline Murray, Jean’s mother, was also a librarian. Like her father, Greg Murray, Jean taught high school for MANY years (35), mainly in Northern Ontario. Sayings that I will NEVER personally forget, said by Jean that made me smile always… “Good night Sam” – Jean’s and Teddy’s good night wishes to each other. If you ever had the audacity to “anger” Jean, your punishment would be a threat of “30 lashes with a wet noodle”! When faced with making a tough decision, Jean would let you know she’d have to “contemplate her navel”. If your answer to one of Jean’s questions was “who knows”, Chances are the next thing out of her mouth would be “the shadow, but he’s not telling”! *from a radio show Jean used to listen to. There was no service of any kind, Jean’s wishes were for direct cremation.
