CLARKE, Goldie

Goldie Elizabeth Clarke (nee Yokom), of Mount Forest, passed away at the Louise Marshall Hospital, Mount Forest on Monday, July 22nd, 2024 in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Don Clarke. Loving mother of Michele and her husband Bruce Aitken, the late Brenda and her husband Wayne Diebold, and the late Brent Clarke. Cherished grandmother of Ryan Aitken, Brendon and Nikki Aitken, Noah Aitken and Lola, Justin Diebold and Kristina, Kayla and Josh Stock, Kelly Cranston, and Rob Clarke. Devoted great-grandmother of Lilly and Layla Aitken, Tristan Diebold and Alaina Stock. Dear sister of Helen Lloyd and sister-in-law of Mabel Yokom. Predeceased by her siblings Leona (infant), Jim Yokom, Marjorie Christian, and Earle Yokom, and by her brothers-in-law Mel Lloyd and Earl Christian. Dear friend of many wonderful ladies. Goldie loved her family with all of her heart and they meant the world to her. She was very proud of them all. “Grandma Goldie” enjoyed looking after her grandchildren as well as attending all of their hockey games, there was nothing better than watching them play! They enjoyed many lively games of euchre which usually resulted in her grandkids accusing her of cheating more specifically her oldest grandson. It did not matter what they needed she always made herself available and was there. Her family and friends often remarked that everyone needs a “Goldie” in their lives. Her passing leaves a huge void in the lives of the ones she has left behind but we take comfort in knowing that she is in the arms of dad, Brenda and Brent. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Mount Forest Sports Complex (Lower Leisure Hall), 850 Princess Street on Friday, August 16 at 2pm, with visitation prior to the service from 12:30 – 1:45pm. Private interment of cremated remains will be held at the Shelburne Cemetery at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Louise Marshall Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham.
