Clark, James Irwin (Jim); December 31st, 1922 – June 28th, 2009. Flying Officer 135 Squadron RCAF. The family of Jim Clark is sad to announce that Jim passed away on Sunday, June 28th, 2009, in Fergus, Ontario. Jim was born in Bowmanville, Ontario, to Eva and Dr. Robert Clark and loved to recount wonderful tales of his years growing up with his brothers Robert (Bob) and Thomas (Ted). After securing a job with Pearl Assurance Company, Jim joined the RCAF at the age of 22, attaining the rank of Flying Officer 135 (“1 thirsty 5’s”) Squadron. After the war, Jim returned to his job at the Pearl until 1977 when he moved to the Insurance Bureau of Canada, where he spent the rest of his career. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and a member of Trout Unlimited Canada, Farmcreek Hunt and Fish Club, and Friends of the Grand for whom he helped restore Carroll Creek. After having led a happy and hearty life, Jim will be missed by those who knew him and with deepest love by his devoted wife of 61 years, Gloria, his daughters Susanne and Barbara, and granddaughters Corrie and Jodi. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 11th at 11am at St. John’s Anglican Church, located at the corner of Smith and Henderson Streets in Elora, Ontario. Arrangements entrusted to Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home (519) 846-5352. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s honour may be made to Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus. The family would like to thank the nurses at Groves and Dr. A.
