CHAPMAN, Hazel

March 10, 1928 - November 29, 2020

Hazel Chapman, the daughter of the late Abraham and Sarah Hurd of Belwood, was born March 10, 1928 and died suddenly at Guelph General Hospital, Sunday, November 29th, 2020. Hazel was the loving wife of George, for over 60 years. She loved her family above all else. She was predeceased by George and a grandson, David. She is survived by her three sons and their wives: Bill (Sharon), Bob (Donna) and Mike (Pam). She occupied a special place in the hearts and lives of her grandchildren: Beth Morris, Daniel (Carroll) Chapman, Becky (Cory) O’Connell, Amy (Nick) Romanow, Paul (Rachel) Chapman and Michael (Jamie) Chapman. But the real passion in her life were her 17 great grandchildren: Jacob, David, Xavier, Ben, Robbie, Sophie, Henry, Aiden, Carter, Dean, Deegan, Emma, Joshua, Sam, Kathryn, Zoe, Ryann. In addition to her family, Hazel loved spending time with her special niece Karen Woods and her sister, Glenise Ladd and her brother, Glenn Hurd both of Fergus. Hazel’s days were enriched by her circle of loving and caring neighbours. After retirement from many years as a supervisor at Whittaker Cable, her favourite occupations became working in her gardens and around her yard, cleaning an already immaculate house, playing (winning at) cards, painting her house indoors and out and when she could get away with it, climbing ladders to replace roof shingles. Hazel was known for her unconditional love, sense of humour, and caring heart. She saw the good in people and situations. She was willing to share whatever she had with those around her. She had a powerful and lasting impact on all those she knew. Hazel will be deeply missed. Limited visitation is possible Thursday, December 3rd from 7:00 to 9:00pm. Check the Wall-Custance website to book a time. Due to COVID-19, a private family funeral will be held Friday December 4th, 2020. Arrangements entrusted to Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel. Condolences can be sent via funeral home website below Hazel’s notice. In lieu of flowers, donations in Hazel’s memory can be sent to Guelph General Hospital.
