1942 to 2021 It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Lottie Marie Carey (nee Rigg), at the age of 79, on July 22, 2021 but also gratitude for a life well lived. Loving wife of Harvey Carey for 45 years. Predeceased by her parents Harvey and Helen Rigg and her loving sister Margaret Atto (Rigg), brother-in-law Claude Atto, and her brothers Michael Rigg and Lawrence Rigg. Loving sister of Verdun (Tony) Rigg and sister-in-law Karen and Patrick Rigg and sister-in-law Kathy Rigg. Cherished aunt of Stacey Atto (Mark), Blake Atto (Kelly), Shawn Atto (Dori), Victoria Rigg, Nicolette Rigg, Nick Rigg and Kyle Rigg. Great aunt to Brianna Atto, Ryan Brown (Kayla) and Jorden (Brandon) Grigg. Great-great aunt to Lincoln and Jackson Grigg. Godmother to Mark Deckert. Lottie put her energy into MS Society’s fundraising every year and was on the MS Society’s Board of Directors for 10 years and volunteered for 25 years in the Guelph Wellington area. During that time Lottie’s accomplishments included volunteer of the year for the MS Society for 2 different years. Other accomplishments include owning a Hair Salon in Kitchener; working for the Ontario Apprenticeship Branch for 15 years; transferring to the Ministry of Agriculture until her retirement. Lottie taught cake decorating at Conestoga College in Kitchener and Guelph. Lottie was a volunteer in many organizations over the years. One of her biggest achievements was to always be kind and show kindness whenever possible. Lottie’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 and Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 4:15 to 7:15pm. A funeral liturgy for Lottie will be in the funeral home chapel on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
