Callaghan, Helen Marie (Mulhall); Of Arthur. Passed away at Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus on Friday, March 20, 2009 of cancer, peacefully accepting God’s will. Loving wife of the late Daniel Callaghan (2001). Dear mother of John of Sao Miguel, Azores, Leo of Hamilton, Louise and Rick Dingman of Arthur, Joe and Phyllis of Kenilworth, Mark of Kelowna, B.C., Patrick and Lisa of Owen Sound and Carol Ann and Ken Davies of Alma. Loving grandma of Daniel, Alicia and Galen Dingman; Jack, Philip and Will Callaghan and Matt and Julia Davies. Loving sister of Wilfred and Lynn Mulhall of Arthur and Genevieve and Jim Logel of Waterloo. Remembered by many nieces and nephews of the Mulhall, Logel and McGee families. Also by her brother-in-law Con Callaghan, sisters-in-law and husbands Isabel and Bill Noonan and Lillian and Joe McGee. Helen was born on April 6, 1923 and baptized at St. Patrick’s Church in Proton Township. Raised in West Luther, Helen married Dan in 1947. Together they raised their family and farmed the Callaghan homestead on the 16th of Peel Township until 1981. Moving to town, Helen enjoyed volunteering at St. John Church and school, Caressant Care, The Opportunity Shop for twenty-five years and faithfully supporting The Catholic Women’s League for fifty-five years.
The family received friends at the Crawford Funeral Home 243 George St., Arthur on Sunday, March 22, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Parish Rosary was prayed on Sunday afternoon at 1:45pm in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held from St. John R.C. Church, Arthur on Monday, March 23, 2009 at 10:30am. Spring interment St. John Cemetery, Arthur. Remembrances to the Groves Memorial Hospital Foundation CT Scan would be greatly appreciated by the family. The Callaghan Family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to C.C.C.U. Floor nurses at Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus for the care and respect they had shown our mother this past year.
