It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harvey Goldwin Burt, a beloved Husband, Dad, Papa, Brother, Uncle, and Friend, on December 6th, 2024, in his 81st year. After a long-fought battle with cancer, he passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Friday. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Lloyd and Eileen, and son, Craig, who passed away at the age of 4 in 1983. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 50 years, Doreen (Harrop); daughters Cheryl (Rob Fletcher), Lisa (John Lightle) and Colleen (Jeremy Giret); granddaughters Isabelle, Jessica, Emily, Rachel and Julia; sister Doris (Wally Ella); nephews Travis and Nathan, many Harrop nieces and nephews along with extended family and friends. After many years of working for Disston Saw in Acton, Harvey spent most of his adult life as a proud farmer on the 6th line of Erin. He moved to the farm at the age of 4 and later built a home on the farm with Doreen after their marriage in 1974. In his early years, he enjoyed spending time with friends at Junior Farmers events, bowling tournaments and snowmobiling around the province. He always loved and took pride in his cars and trucks. In his later years, he enjoyed many camping trips around the province with family and friends. We want to express our gratitude to the staff at Georgetown Hospital for their excellent care, the Palliative home support care team, and Guelph General Hospital, where they have overseen his treatment for the last five years. The funeral service was held at Jones Funeral Home, Georgetown.
