BURNETT, Elizabeth Jane “Beth” (Park)

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4th, 2020 in her 97th year at Caressant Care in Arthur with family by her side. The only child of Alex and Helen Park. Married to John (2019) for 73 years. Loving mother of Alex (Linda) and Helen Winters (Kerry). Proud grandmother of Jason (Jenai), Stephen (Julie), Darrryl (Anita), Anne (Neal), Rebecca, Lisa (Sean) and Daniel (Liz). Great grandma of 15 and great great grandma of 2. Also survived by her son-in-law John Schmidt and brother-in-law Gordon Burnett. Predeceased by daughter Mary Schmidt and Sister-in-law Doreen. Beth spent her entire life on the 9th Line of East Garafraxa. Born and raised on Lot 20, Conc 9 East Garafraxa and when married, went to Lot 17, Conc 9. Later she and her husband John moved to Heritage River in Elora and to Caressant Care in Arthur. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the caregivers at both facilities. She was an active member of St. John’s United Church in Belwood and The Belwood Women’s Institute and the larger organization FW10, where she became good friends with many members across the province. Beth had a significant part in the research and history of the History book of East Garafraxa. Family and friends visited The Graham Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David Street South in Fergus on Monday March 9th from 3:00 – 5:00 and 7:00 – 9:00pm. The funeral service was held at St. John’s United Church in Belwood on Tuesday March 10th at 2:00pm followed by a time of refreshments in the church basement. Interment will be at McKee Cemetery in the spring. Donations can be directed towards St. John’s United Church, Groves Memorial Hospital or the charity of your choice.
