BROWN, Shirley B.

June 26, 1935 - April 25, 2023

Heaven gained another angel today. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. Shirley Berniece (née Smith) Brown passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, surrounded by her children, son-in-law and family friend. She was a lifelong resident of the Mount Forest area. Born on June 26, 1935 to parents Willard and Ethel Smith. On October 24, 1953 she married Glenn Brown (predeceased 2012) and together they proudly raised five children. She was a loving sister to Howard (Velma), Stanley, Thelma (Gordon), and Violet (Archie) who have all predeceased her. She is survived by her sister-in-law Margaret Smith, and many nieces and nephews. Loving mother of Cheryl, David (Tammy), Janet (Dave), and Heather (Dave). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Denise (Tony), Kevin (Kim), Holly (Kevin), and Jason, her great-grandchildren Landon, Hailey, Trevor, Lyla, and Devin. She will be missed by her long-time friend and lunch mate Lois Seguss, and by her many other friends. Shirley was predeceased her daughter Margaret, son-in-law Douglas, baby daughter Lois Marie, and her grandson-in-law Paul. Many happy hours were spent playing cards with family and friends, enjoying lots of laughs and good natured competition. Her family would like to thank Dr. Weinstein and the staff at Louise Marshall Hospital for their excellent care. Visitation was held on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the England Funeral Home, 294 Main Street South, Mount Forest from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm, where the funeral service was held on Monday at 11:00am. Interment followed at Mount Forest Cemetery with a luncheon at the Mount Forest United Church.
