It is with deep sadness, but also gratitude for her long and happy life, that we announce Ellen Broderick’s peaceful passing at 91, on June 4th, 2023. Her lifelong partner, and love of her life for 68 years, Glynn, never left her side, and she knew to the end that she was loved and cherished. Ellen is predeceased by her son Mark and leaves behind her daughter, Kim and husband, Glynn, who will miss her dearly. She will be cherished by her Grandchildren Drew (Kristin), Lindsay (Ryan) and Wendy. She will be remembered fondly by her Great Grandchildren Alex, Matty, Trevor, Owen, Brock and Mason, and had the very special privilege of meeting her Great Great Grandson Cian before she passed. Ellen will be fondly remembered for her kindness, sense of humour, creativity, and cheerful disposition. Ellen sang in the church choir in Willowdale (now North York) for over 20 years, then in the Belwood choir for 15 years after they moved to Fergus in 1974. She had many friends who she maintained contact with, whether over the phone or by mail. She was a weaver for 44 years and was known for the beautiful pieces she created. She hosted many gatherings and happy hours and had a special gift of bringing people together. The Broderick/Wood family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Groves Hospital whose compassion, care, and professionalism were invaluable. We also send gratitude to the staff at Caressant Care who assisted Ellen for her short stay there. A celebration of Ellen’s life will be planned. Please visit
