BOYD, Al (Allan) of Elora passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus on Friday, February 5, 2016 in his 70th year. Beloved husband of Betty (Mansfield) Boyd for 42 years. Loving father of Denise Boyd-Dunlop and Daniel Dunlop of Elora, Suzanne and Garrett Small of Fergus and Megan and Dan Palubiski of Salem. Grandfather of Madeleine, Amelia and Hailey. Brother of Margaret Cowen of Cambridge. Brother-in-law of Anne Boyd of Fergus, Carl and Judy Mansfield of Minesing, Linda Mansfield of Lynden, Jean Mansfield of Fergus and Mary Ann Mansfield of Mapleton Township. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his two brothers Roy and Ed Boyd, brothers-in-law Garry and John Mansfield and Don Cowen and sister-in-law Lillian Boyd. Al was a humble, gentle man who loved life. He was honoured to work the family farm until 2010. He loved being on a tractor, caring for cattle and looking after hens. For 43 years he worked in various positions, mostly working as a millwright at A.O. Smith (formerly GSW/Beatty Brothers). He could be counted on to lead by example and knew how to repair every machine in the plant. A hardworking man, he loved to share stories, laugh with, and help his many friends and family members. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus council number 6475. Al loved wood working and nature. Most of all, Al treasured his family who was the centre of his life. The family received family and friends at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, 243 George Street, Arthur on Sunday February 7, 2016. The funeral Mass was celebrated at St. John Roman Catholic Church, Arthur on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Spring interment in St. John’s Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to Heart and Stroke Research, Groves Memorial Hospital or St. John Roman Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family.  www.heritagefuneralhomes.ca
