Obituary

John died peacefully at home at the age of 78. John faced his severe health problems with courage, strength and a strong faith in God. His degree in social work assisted him in being a strong advocate for long term care residents, dedicating 48 years of his life as owner of Eden House Care Facility. He will be remembered by, and so enjoyed, socializing with all he met and especially his coffee buddies in Rockwood. John leaves behind his loving wife Gail of 51 years. Proud and amazing father to Mark (Amanda), Shelley (Mark) Nicol, and Matthew (Lindsay). Loving grandfather to Victoria, Emma, Marissa and Casey, Marijka and Sydney, Nicholas, Natalie and Lucas. Friends and family were invited to a socially distanced visitation at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Friday, October 30th from 4:00 – 9:00pm. A private celebration of life was held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, October 31, 2020. Friends were invited to attend the celebration via Zoom. In lieu of flowers, memorials donation to Operation Smile would be appreciated by the family. Cards available at the funeral home or donations and condolences may be made online.
