At 12:06am on Friday November 1st, 2019, Karsje Booy entered peacefully into glory surrounded by her family. Karsje was a young 97 years old. She enjoyed shopping at the Holland store and video chatting with family. Her favourite phrase was: “I have lived a fantastic life” and was grateful and positive until the very end. Karsje was the beloved wife of the late Egbert Booy (2000) of Elora. She will be greatly missed by her children, Christine Hyink and her husband Matt of Canmore, Alberta, Karin Peeks and her husband Wim of Nijmegen, Netherlands, Johan Booy and his wife Joke of Hoogeveen, Netherlands, Ineke DeGroot and her husband Martin of Moorefield, Marja Iskarous and her husband Magdy of Veenendaal, Netherlands, Peter Booy and his wife Mari of Neepawa, Manitoba, and Richard Booy and Lynda of Fergus. Also missed by her 23 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, Annette Grasman of Elora and Barb Ganley of Leduc, Alberta. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. A special thank you to her Heritage River family and two special angels Corina Sipkes and Natasha Marx-Veldman. Predeceased by great-grandchildren Victoria and Owen. Friends and relatives called at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 280 St. David St. S., Fergus, ON on Tuesday Nov. 5th, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00pm and 7:00 – 9:00pm for visitation. A celebration of Karsje’s life was held at 11:00am Wednesday Nov. 6th, 2019 at Knox Presbyterian Church, 51 Church St., Elora. Rev. Kees Vandermay and Rev. Susan V. Clarke officiated. Reception followed in the Church Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Fergus Food Bank or the Alzheimer’s Society of Waterloo Wellington.
