BLACK, Brian Douglas

January 31, 1964 - November 26, 2023

It is with the utmost regret that we announce the peaceful and sudden passing of our beloved father, Brian, this past Sunday at Guelph General Hospital, surrounded by family, at the age of 59. Brian was the loving husband of Ann for 36 years, and proud father to Rachel, Megan (Dan), and fur-babies Reese and Talia. Predeceased by his loving wife Ann Black (née Hawkins; 2023), his parents Bill (2008) and Arnetta (2019) Black, and in-laws W. Harold (1998) and Irene (2013). He will be greatly missed by his two daughters, his brothers Billy (Kelly) and David (Renate) Black, and in-laws Fred (Lorna), Ron (Donna) Hawkins, and Marie (Jim) Kennedy, as well as his many nieces and nephews. Brian was a long-time employee for RME in Guelph, where he made amazing friends for whom he deeply cared. He was also a proud member of the Center Wellington OPP Auxiliary for 16 years; there were so many there that he considered like family, and who’s friendship he deeply treasured. An original resident of Fergus, he moved out to Guelph/Eramosa where he helped raise a loving family. He always took pride in making the farm’s lawn look so good. We extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Guelph General Hospital for the care they provided dad. A visitation in his honour will be held on Thursday, November 30th at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus from 3-8pm, followed by a funeral service on December 1st at 12pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at a private ceremony at St. Peter’s Cemetery, alongside his wife. Donations can be made to the Guelph General Hospital and their ICU Suites, as well as Diabetes Canada.
