BISHOP, Carolyn Norma

BISHOP, Carolyn Norma June 16, 1949 to April 16, 2018. Born in Fort William, ON to Norman and Margaret Bishop, Carolyn grew up in Brockville, ON, lived and laughed in Elora, ON and finally settled in Everett, ON. Carolyn enjoyed careers in hotel and food management and IT before finding her true vocation as an editor. Predeceased by her brother, David, and her devoted long time life partner, Art Clifford, Carolyn is survived by her sisters-in-law, Marilyn Bishop and Kim Anderson, niece Heather Bishop and nephews Michael and Laurence Bishop and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to mention (you know who you are). Highly intelligent, with a keen eye for a misplaced word or punctuation mark and possessed of a sharp, acerbic wit, Carolyn was both a loyal companion to family and friends and a fierce debater who held strong views concerning politics, the place of law and order in society and animal rights. She and Art were prized attendees at many dinner parties and croquet tournaments, where they entertained and competed, conversed and demonstrated their love of life, family and friends, often late into the evening and on into the early morning hours. Carolyn will be missed. Family and friends wish to give thanks to the care givers at Sherwood Park Manor (Brockville) and Lana Sowchuk (PSW) who assisted Carolyn through her difficult challenges in the last few years. Special thanks to Heather and Carol, who stayed faithfully by Carolyn’s side during her final hours. A private celebration of Carolyn’s life was held with family in Brockville, which will be followed by a gathering of friends in Elora in honour of Art and Carolyn, where they will be cherished guests one final time. In lieu of flowers, donations should be given in Carolyn’s name to the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
