Ernest William Bennett fondly known by many coffee buddies at Tim Horton’s Victoria Road in the wee hours of the morning. Ernie was a willing, helpful and loyal buddy. Our wonderful Ernie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 20, 2023 surrounded by the love of his family. A beloved husband and best friend of Jennifer for over 51 happy years. Proud and loving father of Jason and his wife Rachel. Best Grandpa EVER of (Big Boy) CALDER, (Monkey Butt) Audrey and (Froggy) Isabella. Loving Uncle to Joanne McArthur and Brenda McArthur and family. Best Brother-In-Law to Darwin Levely and Jennifer’s twin Judy Campbell of Alberta. Ernie will be missed by many cousins, friends (Bill Justin), neighbours and past colleagues. Ernie was a proud employee of the Operations Department with the City of Guelph for over 30 years where he had a long and rewarding career. Ernie is predeceased by his parents Ernest and Isabelle Bennett, his grandparents William and Violet Calder, his only brother George and his sisters Mary, Marg Blanche and Irene. Resting at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home-Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph. Family invited friends to a visitation on Monday, July 24, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Funeral Service was on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 10:30am in the Hart Chapel. Burial at Marymount Catholic Cemetery, 5400 Hwy 6 South, Guelph. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Lounge at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the SickKids Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Lung Association of Canada would be appreciate.
