AUDET, Betty (Elizabeth Grace)

June 18, 1926 - February 5, 2022

Passed away at the Royal Terrace Seniors residence in Palmerston Ontario with her son at her side on February 5th 2022 at the age of 95. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Maurice in 2021. Also predeceased by her sisters Lila and Shirley and her brother Dave. She will be greatly missed by her son, Richard and his wife, Shawna and her grandson, Sebastian of Smithers, BC. Fondly remembered by her brother Dave and his wife Donna of Hamilton as well as her many nieces, nephews and friends. Betty was born on June 18, 1926 in Hamilton, Ontario. Her father was a school principal and she became a teacher herself. Betty was working in Ottawa and was deeply involved with drama productions there when she met Maurice. They married in 1963, and moved to Palmerston where Maurice got a job teaching at Norwell District Secondary School. Betty was noted for her extensive volunteer work and even wrote a column in the local paper about volunteerism called Needs and Deeds. She was active in the United Church. Betty was part of the local United Church Women, and served as a delegate to the Bruce Presbytery, Hamilton Conference and General Council. Other groups she worked with included the Carry-On Women’s Institute, the District Hospital Auxiliary, Hospice Wellington, Victorian Order of Nurses, Palmerston Senior Citizens, North Wellington Senior Council, and the Wellington County Historical Society. A memorial service of remembrance will be held in the Heritage Funeral Home, Palmerston on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 2:00pm.
