Of Arthur passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus on Thursday, January 2, 2025 in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Filippa (Calderone) Abate for 69 years. Dear father of Sebastiano and Jane Abate of Arthur, Joseph Abate (2024) and Lorraine of Arthur and Masina Abate and Stefano of Italy. Cherished grandfather of Mary Bradnam (Micah), Salvatore Abate (Jenna), Sarah Gammie (Shawn); Cassandra Abate, Danielle Abate, Allison Abate, Nico Abate (Chelsea) and Sydney Abate; Filippo Boccaletti, Jacopo Boccaletti and Megan Boccaletti. Great grandfather of Ella, Sebastian, Livia, Luca, Jonah, Jane, Matteo and Audrey. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents Sebastiano and Masina Abate, brother Antonio and his wife Angela Abate, sisters Sara and her husband Gaetano Abate, Gaetana and her husband Angelo Mairiottini and nephew Sal Abate. The family received friends at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, 243 George Street, Arthur on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. A Funeral Mass of Remembrance will be held at the St. John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 150 Georgina Street, Arthur on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 2:00pm.
