Nursery moves to Guelph-Eramosa

Royal City Nursery has received approval to set up shop in Guelph-Eramosa Township.

The nursery was previously located in Guelph and wanted to relocate to the township

At the Oct. 19 meeting, there was a public meeting to discuss the special provision included on the application for the 6838 Wellington Road 124 property to permit non-agriculturally related retail sales on land zoned as agricultural. This could include decorative items and seasonal items.

Township planning associate Kelsey Lang said there would be three main uses for the property: agricultural, selling items grown on the property and selling items not grown on the property.

No members of the public spoke in support or in opposition to the zoning bylaw amendment to allow non-agricultural items to be sold on the property.

Council approved the site plan application at the meeting allowing the business to use the property for agricultural purposes and to sell items both produced on the property and not produced on the property.

The site is approximately 22,258 square metres (5.5 acres) and is located at the southwest corner of the township.

The adjacent properties are used for agricultural and rural residences.
