FERGUS – Obstetrical services at the county’s two northern hospitals are being transferred to Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus to facilitate increased capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The move, announced by hospital officials on April 13, applies to obstetrical (OB) services at the two North Wellington Health Care (NWHC) sites: Palmerston and District Hospital and Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest.
“Temporarily moving OB services to [Groves] will allow us to increase bed capacity, if needed, at NWHC during the pandemic,” stated Jill Schitka, VP Patient Services and chief nursing executive at NWHC and GMCH.
She added, “OB patients have been notified of the changes by their physicians.”
NWHC doctors will send referrals to Dr. Dan Reilly or Dr. Jessica Rollings-Scattergood, officials say.
They also stress that both NWHC sites are able to offer emergency OB services.
Anyone with questions can contact their physician.
