Nominations now open for Friends of the Credit Conservation Awards

It’s time again to recognize how the Credit River community contributes to the health of the watershed.

Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is inviting local residents to submit nominations for the Friends of the Credit Conservation Awards.

The annual awards dinner will be held on March 20, 2014.

The Conservation Awards program, active since 1986, recognizes those who have made significant contributions to the health of the Credit River, its surrounding land, and the local community.

The awards are open to residents, landowners, community groups, schools, youth, small businesses and corporations, municipalities, and agencies.

A wide variety of activities are eligible, and the awards can recognize one-time projects or those extending over multiple years.

Awards can also recognize people who have contributed to the health of the watershed over a period of time.

There is a specific Young Conservationist Award for those under 25 and a Watershed Legacy Donor Award which recognizes the significant donation of land that contributes to protecting the natural heritage of the Credit River Watershed in perpetuity.

Residents can nominate a neighbour, friend, colleague, school, business, community group, or any person or organization making a significant contribution to environmental health in the watershed.

Information about the awards program and past award winners is available at www.creditvalleyca.ca/conservationawards.

Online nominations are available at www.creditvalleyca.ca/nominate.

The nomination deadline is Nov. 10.

Submitters are asked to use the online nomination form and send supporting information by mail, email or fax.

Nominations should be prepared carefully and thoroughly, as the awards committee make their decisions based on the completeness and clarity of the nomination submitted.
