Wellington County will not be renaming a portion of Wellington County Road 2 in recognition of a Minto family.
Minutes from Wellington County’s Roads Committee noted that direction was provided to the chief administrative officer to advise Carl and Elaine Binkley the road will not be renamed in accordance with the County of Wellington’s renaming of roads policy.
The notation was accepted as Wellington County accepted the roads report on Jan. 27.
The original request made by Carl and Elaine Binkley stated, “The farm located at Fire No. 5745 Wellington Road 2 has been in the Binkley Family since 1927. John Binkley, Carl Binkley’s father, had lived at this farm since 1927.
Originally this road was named Road 79. The family noted this road was patrolled by John Binkley as the maintenance superintendent and that the farm is now owned by Carl and Elaine Binkley.
The request was simply to see if it would be possible that a portion of this road be named Binkley Road, Binkley Lane or an appropriate name recognizing the longevity of the Binkley Family living there.
