MINTO – The Harriston and District Horticultural Society and the Harriston Senior’s Centre unveiled this wrought iron gate by the shuffleboard court at the senior’s centre on Oct. 26 in memory of Margaret Weber.

ERIN – Hacienda Santa Maria, a paso fino horse farm in Erin, hosted its first paso fino horse show on Nov. 3.

GUELPH – The spotlight was shining on two students from Fergus and Harriston during a Wellington Catholic District School Board meeting on Nov. 4. 

CENTRE WELLINGTON – On Oct. 20 at the Wellington County Museum and Archives, Bob Foster shared stories about his father’s journey as a soldier during the Second World War. 

ARTHUR – Arthur resident Laird More was named citizen of the year at the Arthur Chamber of Commerce Community awards ceremony Oct. 23.

GUELPH – With an eviction deadline staring them in the face, unhoused people living in downtown Guelph’s St. George’s Square don’t know what they are going to do come Nov. 13.

ABOYNE – While Remembrance Day has not yet arrived, around 100 people gathered at the Wellington County Museum and Archives on Nov. 5 to pay tribute to individuals from Wellington County who lost their lives in various wars and conflicts.

GUELPH – Wellington County is moving ahead with the next steps to replace its roads department garages in Brucedale (in Guelph/Eramosa) and Erin, despite concerns raised by some councillors about the potential costs.

ELORA – St. John’s Anglican Church in Elora started making these banners with knitted and crocheted poppies a few years ago and now have fashioned several banners that hang throughout the village for Remembrance Day.

GUELPH – Salary increases for OPP officers will likely result in tax increases for Wellington County residents. The policing contract is expected to rise to $20.4 million in 2025.

CONN – Samuel Lewis Honey was born Feb. 9, 1894, in Conn, to parents Reverand George Edward Honey and Metta Blaisdell. 

MINTO – Town residents gathered at the Palmerston Arena bright and early to learn about a reconstruction plan for Main Street East and West on Oct. 30. 

ARTHUR – The Arthur Cenotaph has stood at the corner of George and Frederick streets in Arthur since 1923, thanks to the hard work of a group of locals known as the Women Memorial Workers.

EDEN MILLS  – Local artist Janet Wilson is reflecting on her time illustrating the 1995 book In Flanders Fields, the story of the poem by John McCrae.

DRAYTON – Because I was born in the fall of 1939, I have some memories of living in Northeast London in the UK during the end of the second World War.
